As If We Needed Another Reason To Fire Jeff Fisher…

Jeff Fisher5 quick thoughts on why the Titans should part ways with Jeff Fisher and start the coaching search now…

1. The conservative “run the ball and play tough defense” mentality isn’t working. You have to be able to move the ball (nonetheless actually score a touchdown) offensively for this type of game – the Titans went 14 consecutive quarters without an offensive touchdown.

2. Acquiring and paying Randy Moss to NOT catch passes wasn’t a good idea. In fact, last nights’ loss was only the second game in Moss’ Hall Of Fame career that he wasn’t even targeted on a pass. In addition, he was only on the field for 23% of the Titans offensive plays. How do you not utilize a Hall Of Fame receiver?!

3. The Titans have now lost 6 games in a row for the second consecutive season. Fisher fan or not, this is the worst stat of them all.

4. You can’t expect to beat Peyton Manning by punting the ball with 4 minutes left in the game when you’re down by 6 points. Manning easily drove down the field and the Colts grabbed 3 points, putting them up 9 with 2:00 remaining.

5. If you have 2:00 to score 9 points, it doesn’t do you any good to use all of those 2:00 to score only 7 points. Says the one and only Sports Guy, Bill Simmonds:

Trailing by nine points in the final minute, Tennessee got a first down inside Indy’s 25, but embattled Tennessee coach Jeff Fisher — who apparently has never played a video game in his life — eschewed the exceedingly logical field goal/onsides kick/Hail Mary blueprint and kept charging toward the end zone. And all that persistence paid off: Kerry Collins tossed a touchdown pass to Bo Scaife to pull the Titans within two. One problem: There was 0:00 left on the clock. THEY WASTED THE ENTIRE MINUTE TRYING TO SCORE A MEANINGLESS TOUCHDOWN!!!!!!!!!! (Sorry, the situation demanded all caps.) How do these guys get paid to coach for a living when 10-year-olds holding a Wii controller are more logical in the same situation???

[…] As If We Needed Another Reason To Fire Jeff Fisher: Todd Stepp gives 5 good arguments why the Tennessee Titans should fire Jeff Fisher and start looking for a new coach.  I love the quote at the end of this about 10 year old Wii players having more common sense than Fisher had against his Colts game last week.
